Parthalán

Parthalán
Parthalán m
Irish Gaelic: name of uncertain derivation, possibly from Latin Bartholomaeus (see BARTHOLOMEW (SEE Bartholomew)). It was borne, according to Celtic legend, by an early invader of Ireland, the first to come to those shores after the biblical Flood. It has often been Anglicized as Bartholomew, and also as BARCLAY (SEE Barclay) and BERKLEY (SEE Berkley), but is now being revived in its own right.
Variants: Párth(h)lán, Partnán.
Cognate: Scottish Gaelic: PÀRLAN (SEE Pàrlan).
